Position Overview:
We are seeking a Sustainability Consultant with expertise in regulatory frameworks and ESG compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of EU sustainability regulations, carbon reporting, and environmental impact assessments, with experience in integrating these aspects into engineering and operational processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with EU regulations such as Energy Efficiency Directive, CSRD, SFDR, and other regulatory frameworks related to sustainability and ESG
- Advise clients on GHG Protocol, Carbon Accounting (Scope 1, 2, 3 & 4), and Science-Based Targets (SBTi)
- Guide organizations through sustainability reporting requirements (e.g., GRI, CDP, TCFD)
- Conduct sustainability gap assessments to identify risks and opportunities in compliance
Carbon & Sustainability Assessments:
- Lead carbon footprint calculations and life cycle assessments (LCA) for large infrastructure projects such as data centers and other mission critical projects
- Develop strategies for reducing carbon emissions (CUE), energy consumption (PUE), and water usage (WUE)
- Identify heat recovery opportunities and evaluate their impact on sustainability credits
Building Certifications & ESG Strategy:
- Assist clients in obtaining and maintaining LEED, BREEAM, WELL, RESET, and ISO 14001 certifications
- Collaborate with MEP, CSA, and operational teams to embed sustainability in building design and operation
- Develop corporate ESG strategies and provide insights on sustainable finance and investment frameworks
RESET (Resource Efficiency & Sustainability Enhancement in Technology)
- Implement and certify RESET standards for infrastructure projects, ensuring real-time monitoring and operational efficiency
- Optimize air quality, energy performance, and material selection for RESET accreditation
- Work with building management systems (BMS) and IoT sensors to track and improve indoor environmental quality (IEQ)
Innovation & Reporting:
- Utilize digital tools for sustainability monitoring (e.g., Decarbon, One Click LCA, OpenLCA)
- Contribute to sustainability roadmaps and reporting dashboards for clients
- Stay updated on global sustainability trends and regulations to provide thought leadership
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related fields
- 5+ years of experience in sustainability consulting, ESG compliance, or carbon assessment
- Strong knowledge of EU sustainability regulations, ESG frameworks, and carbon accounting
- Experience with GHG reporting, energy efficiency strategies, and impact assessment methodologies
- Familiarity with data center sustainability challenges and technical efficiency metrics (PUE, WUE, CUE, RESET requirements)
- Proficiency in sustainability assessment tools (e.g., One Click LCA, OpenLCA, SimaPro)
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (written and spoken)
